Graduation Internship: DTAP Environment in Microsoft Power Platform

BAS Group is an international family-owned company headquartered in Veghel, the Netherlands. The group operates multiple companies within the commercial vehicle industry and supports customers worldwide with services related to trade, parts, logistics, and digital platforms.

To support its growing digital ecosystem, BAS Group relies heavily on its internal IT department, which is responsible for the development, integration, and governance of digital platforms and tools used across the organization.

One of the platforms increasingly used within BAS Group is the Microsoft Power Platform, which enables rapid development of internal applications, workflows, and integrations. As usage of the platform grows across departments, it becomes increasingly important to establish a professional and secure environment setup.

During this internship, you will work with the BAS Group IT department and contribute to the professionalization of the Power Platform environment to support future development, governance, and security requirements.

Assignment Description

Currently, BAS Group uses the Microsoft Power Platform, but lacks a structured DTAP environment setup.

In addition, several potential risks exist, such as:

• Usage of personal accounts instead of service accounts

• Potential security risks related to credential storage

• Limited governance around environment separation and deployment processes

The goal of this graduation project is to research, design, and implement a professional Power Platform environment structure for BAS Group.

The project consists of the following phases:

1. Current Situation Analysis

The student will investigate the current Power Platform setup, including:

• Existing environments

• Access management

• Authentication methods

• Credential handling

• Usage patterns across teams

A risk assessment will be performed to identify security, governance, and operational risks.

2. Governance and Architecture Proposal

Based on the analysis, the student will develop a recommended environment architecture, including:

• A structured Dev – Test – Acceptance – Production (DTAP) environment setup

• Use of service accounts instead of personal accounts

• Secure handling of credentials and integrations

• A RACI model describing responsibilities for developers, administrators, and service accounts

• Best practices for environment management and deployment

The proposal will be presented to IT leadership for validation and feedback.

3. Implementation

After approval, the student will work together with the IT team to implement the proposed setup, making the Power Platform environment ready for professional use and future scaling.

Deliverables

• A current-state analysis of the Power Platform environment

• A risk assessment of the current setup

• A recommended architecture and governance model for a DAP environment

• A RACI model defining responsibilities for platform users and administrators

• Documentation of the implemented Power Platform environment setup

• A final research report and presentation

Optional:

• A working Power Platform solution prototype for order fulfillment communications.

We are looking for a student who:

• Is currently enrolled in an HBO or WO program such as IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Business IT & Management

• Has an interest in cloud platforms, IT architecture, and governance

• Is curious about low-code platforms such as Microsoft Power Platform

• Enjoys combining technical implementation with process and governance design

• Works independently while actively collaborating with stakeholders

• Has good communication skills in English
