Graduation Internship: Continuous Performance and Load Testing of the BAS Platform
- On-site
- Veghel, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands
- Product & Tech
Job description
BAS Group is an international family-owned company based in Veghel. The group operates multiple companies within the commercial vehicle industry and supports customers worldwide with services related to trade, parts, logistics, and digital platforms.
To support its growing digital ecosystem, BAS Group relies heavily on its internal IT department, where Engineering teams work on the development, scalability, and reliability of digital products and platforms. During this internship, you will become part of BAS IT and work closely with Engineering and the Platform Team on a challenge that directly contributes to the future scalability of BAS’ online platform.
As BAS continues to grow its online vehicle offering, the performance and stability of its digital platform become increasingly important. This creates a strong need for better insight into system behaviour under increasing load, and for a testing approach that can support future growth in a sustainable and efficient way.
Assignment Description
Within BAS, we are planning to scale our advertising from 3,000 to 100,000 adds. This would have a major impact on website traffic, backend load, and overall system performance.
Currently, BAS wants to explore how performance and load testing can be set up in a more structural and continuous way, with a preference for modern and AI-supported testing approaches that require as little engineering capacity as possible.
The goal of this internship / graduation project is to research, design, and validate an approach for continuous performance and load testing that helps BAS stay in control as the platform scales.
Central research question:
How can BAS establish a continuous and low-maintenance performance and load testing approach that provides early insight into scalability risks as the online platform grows?
The project can focus, in collaboration with the student, on topics such as:
Analysis of current architecture, user flows, and performance risks
Research into suitable load testing and AI-supported testing tools
Design of a continuous testing setup, including reporting and alerting
Validation through a proof of concept or first implementation together with the IDP team
Exploration of how the solution could contribute to a production-ready setup
Deliverables
An analysis of the current platform landscape and key performance risks.
A comparison of relevant performance, load, and AI-testing tools
A proposed approach for continuous performance and load testing within BAS
A POC or prototype for automated test execution and load monitoring
Recommendations on thresholds, reporting, and scalability governance
Documentation and a final presentation of the results
Job requirements
We are looking for a student who:
Is currently enrolled in an HBO or WO program such as IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cloud / DevOps, or a related field
Has an interest in performance engineering, scalability, system reliability, and automation
Enjoys combining technical research with practical implementation
Works independently while actively collaborating with stakeholders
Has good communication skills in English
