Graduation Internship IT

Job description

At BAS, Europe’s largest dealer in commercial vehicles and an official Volvo and Renault Trucks dealer, you get the chance to develop yourself in IT within the automotive industry. Are you looking for a graduation internship starting January or February 2027? Then this is for you!

BAS World is growing fast, and IT plays a key role in that growth. Our IT team has several graduation assignments available, each tackling a real challenge in our IT landscape. Each assignment is hosted by a team that supervises you day to day. That way you put your knowledge into practice and kickstart your career with us.

Possible graduation assignments

1. Continuous performance & load testing (Engineering)
BAS World aims to grow the number of vehicle ads online roughly 20-fold. In this assignment you make sure our websites and systems can handle that growth. You research which (AI-driven) testing tools fit our stack. Together with the IDP team, you then build a test suite that runs automatically every day in the delivery pipeline. The result is a production-ready testing setup and advice on bottlenecks and capacity.
Suits: Software Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure.

2. Small AI agents for the business (Data / AI engineering)
In this assignment you work as an internal consultant within one department, for example Logistics. You interview users, map their processes and pain points, and decide where AI adds the most value. You then build one or more small AI agents using the services and data we already have. You test them and keep improving them until they are actually used in daily work.
Suits: AI, Data Science, Business IT, Software Engineering, if you enjoy working closely with end users.

3. Real-time monitoring & bottleneck analysis for Thinkwise applications (Engineering)
Several of our core applications run on the Thinkwise low-code platform. When users report slowness, finding the cause currently takes weeks. In this assignment you build monitoring that gives real-time insight into performance across the full stack: from UI and application tier to database and network. That performance is shown live on a screen on our developers’ work floor. You also develop reporting and analysis tooling that lets developers pinpoint bottlenecks and fix them where they occur. That way we find problems in hours instead of weeks.
Suits: Software Engineering, Infrastructure, DevOps, with an interest in performance and observability.

4. Problem management & ITSM process optimisation (System & Application Management)
Our Servicedesk and S&AM team receive a high volume of tickets in Jira. Recurring issues are still rarely solved at their root. In this assignment you map and document the ITSM processes: process flows, work instructions and roles. You compare them with good practices such as ITIL. You then design and implement problem management as a structural process, so recurring issues disappear for good.
Suits: Business IT & Management, IT Service Management or a related programme.

5. Data-driven lead generation with FleetCareXL & BAS World (Product)
Through FleetCareXL we know exactly how vehicles are maintained and what that costs. BAS World’s sales history tells us a lot about residual values. In this assignment you combine these two data sources in a proof of concept. It calculates the ideal replacement moment: when maintenance costs start rising while the residual value is still high. This creates cost savings for customers and leads for purchasing and sales. The assignment can also be approached the other way around. In that case you explore how to actively offer FleetGuide self-service or full-service to BAS World customers.
Suits: Data Science, Business Analytics, Software Engineering, with a commercial interest.

In short: plenty of responsibility, lots of collaboration and an assignment with real impact.
