Product Owner – Supply Leads & Purchase

Job description
About BAS World
BAS World is on a mission to lead the change in global commercial vehicle trading. As one of the most established players in the market for trucks, vans, and machinery, we complete 15,000 transactions per year, but we're building for something far bigger.
We're transforming from a professional trading company into an open marketplace: combining the trust and expertise of a specialist with the scale of a platform.
That transformation requires great product thinking. Which is where you come in.
The Role
We're looking for a Product Owner to take full ownership over a team within our Supply & Seller domain, which is the engine that drives new stock onto the BAS World platform.
This role has two equally important dimensions.
The first is strategic: you set the product direction for your team within the Seller Pillar. You understand what drives internal and external sellers (their motivations, frustrations, and decisions) and you translate that understanding into a coherent product vision that the team can rally around.
The second dimension is technical: this is a data-intensive domain built on integrations, lead flows, and purchase workflows. You're comfortable with general knowledge of API design, data pipelines, and system architecture. You know that great seller-facing products are only possible when the underlying systems are well designed.
If you get energy from deeply understanding a market, setting direction for a team, and building fantastic products that makes it all work, this role is for you.
The BAS World Culture
BAS World is a fast-growing family-owned business, and that shapes how we work. We move fast, we take initiative, and we hold each other accountable. In the past few years we have grown more than 40 percent in transactions, driven by people who spotted opportunities and acted on them before the window closed. Moving fast also means we sometimes get things wrong. That is fine. We learn from it and move on.
We expect you to be the entrepreneur of your domain. Once we decide to place a bet, it is up to you to make it real. You have the autonomy to do that.
We have no shortage of ideas. What we need are people who can keep up, stay sharp under pressure, and turn ambition into results.
We work together in the office. Not because we have to, but because we believe the best work happens when teams are in the same room. Decisions get made faster, problems get solved better, and something harder to define gets built along the way.
When a project lands, we celebrate it. At BAS, we have some great parties.
What You'll Do
Set product direction for the Supply domain - Together with the Product Lead and the Product Owners of the supply domain you’ll define a clear vision and strategy for how BAS World attracts, qualifies, and converts supply leads into listed vehicles. Communicate that direction clearly to your team and stakeholders and keep everyone aligned as the domain evolves.
Understand the seller deeply - spend time with sellers and internal teams to truly grasp what motivates them to list, what holds them back, and what makes BAS World worth choosing. Use that understanding to make sharper product decisions.
Own the Supply Leads & Purchase strategy - determine how we grow supply at scale, from automated lead flows to direct purchase processes, and how we measure success.
Build and improve lead intake systems – Help designing scalable flows for incoming leads from multiple channels, including integrations with external partners and data providers.
Drive integration work - collaborate closely with engineers on API integrations with external systems, data pipelines, and partner connectivity.
Automate purchase and onboarding workflows - reduce manual steps in the vehicle acquisition and intake process through smart tooling and automation.
Empower internal teams - develop systems that help our Supply and Purchase teams work more efficiently, with better data and fewer manual touchpoints.
Make data-driven decisions - use platform data, conversion metrics, and lead funnel analysis to continuously improve throughput and quality.
Lead without authority - align engineers, designers, and stakeholders behind a shared direction. Create clarity when it's missing and resolve trade-offs with good judgment.
Who You Are
We're looking for someone who combines business acumen with technical depth and the confidence to set direction, not someone who waits to be told what to build.
Seller-minded - you naturally think from the perspective of the person selling a vehicle. You're curious about their world: what they worry about, how they make decisions, and what would make them trust a platform with their stock.
Strategically strong - you can zoom out, define a product direction, and communicate it convincingly to your team and stakeholders. You don't just manage a backlog; you understand what drives good outcomes, shape what goes into it, and why.
Great communication skills - You communicate with clarity and confidence. Your specs, updates, and documentation are precise enough that people act on them without a follow-up conversation. In presentations, you structure your thinking so the right people understand the right things, whether you're talking to engineers or senior leadership. When the domain gets complex, you make it understandable. You simplify without losing accuracy.
Outcome-oriented - you focus on what matters: supply growth, conversion rates, and operational efficiency. You ship to learn, not just to ship.
Systems thinker - you see the whole picture: how lead sources connect to intake flows, how data quality affects downstream decisions, how automation reduces friction at scale.
Data-driven - you use metrics to prioritize, validate assumptions, and measure impact. You're not satisfied with outputs; you want to see outcomes.
Tech Savvy and Curious about technology - you understand how systems are built, you're comfortable in conversations about APIs, data flows, databases and architecture, and you can hold your own in engineering discussions without getting lost in them. Aside from this, you follow what's happening in AI, automation, and platform tooling. You actively explore how new capabilities can be applied to your domain.
We offer you
A domain with direct business impact. Supply is the lifeblood of the marketplace, and this role sits at the heart of it.
Real strategic ownership. You set the direction, you don't just execute someone else's roadmap.
A technically ambitious environment where automation, AI, and smart integrations are genuinely on the roadmap.
Small, cross-functional teams with real ownership. You define the problems, shape the solutions, and see the results.
A competitive salary and benefits package that reflects your experience and impact.
Room to grow as BAS World scales. This is a domain that will expand significantly as the platform matures.
Job requirements
Your specifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Ownership, or a related technical role.
Experience working with APIs, data integrations, or data-driven products. You know what good looks like technically.
Affinity with or experience in marketplace, supply chain, logistics, or B2B platform environments is a strong plus.
A track record of setting product direction, not just executing on it. You've owned a vision before.
Strong analytical skills and experience working with data to drive decisions.
Fluent in English & Dutch.
If you're energized by understanding markets deeply, setting direction for a team, and building the technical systems that make supply scale, we'd love to hear from you.
